Part 2~
Later the afternoon...
"I'd always dreamed of living in a regular middle-class family." Edi explained. "I was trying to recreate what normal kids normally did in their childhood, so I started collecting various things, mostly toys, and ended up like that."
"By the way, this guy is Draggy-san." Edi said while pointing to the humongous teddy bear.
Your thoughts are already quite abnormal...
Chris sighed then burst onto a guessing game.
"Ah, I get it! Your a typical rich kid, after all." Chris smugly said.
"It went like this, right? Your father neglected his family, your mother abandoned child-caring and devoted herself to her hobbies. Raised in a family that only pretend to get along, you were on bad terms even with you brother, and you grew up alone. No one around you understood how you felt so you acted like a delinquent to rebel, but actually you were just lonely. But you had a red sportscar and a long-haired dog named Alexander!"
Chris laughed.
"How did you know?" Edi asked.
I was right?! Chris thought.
"Ah!" Chris slammed his fist on his hand. "I can explain your sexual orientation, too. Your mother ended up bringing a lover home, and you ended up seeing them with your own eyes -- trauma! Ever since you lost your desire for women." Chris smirked.
"Then, you had a kind tutor who was like an older brother to you. He did some "naughty" things to you, and you discovered that you were gay!" Chris winked at Edi.
Edi remained calm and sipped some of his coffee. "If that came out now, the newspaper would be all over it."
Seriously?!
-----
Edi's Thoughts : I can't see any way...
Chris's Thoughts :...that we could get along.
Edi's Thoughts : But for Tuan's sake... I have to put up with it.
Chris's Thoughts : But for my brother's sake... I have to put up with it.
-----
Edi picked up his cigarette. "Okay, so where are you aiming for?" Edi asked.
"Alberta University." Chris muttered.
Silence...
"You sure you're fully conscious?" Edi asked with a smug smile.
"The hell?!" Chris stood up at pointed his finger. "Everything you say pisses me off! You don't know until you try!" Chris shouted.
"No, I know." Edi looked away from Chris. He took out a sheet of paper. "I already took a look at your answers to trial exam." He sighed. "This isn't the level of forgetting a formula or making careless errors." He waved the sheet. "You don't even understand the problem!" Chris face froze.
Edi flipped through the pages then spoke, "Lower your standards. Every school has a economics department." He suggested.
"I'm set on Alberta University!" Chris shouted stomping his foot on the floor. "No where I'm going anywhere else!" He shouted more.
"I've got to go there, for my brother, too!" He said to Edi. "If I can't go there, I'd rather just not go at all!"
Edi looked at Chris. "Why did you bring up Tuan?" He asked. Chris shrugged. He sat back down.
"You know about it, too, don't you?" Looking at the ground. "Our parents died 10 years ago. Ever since then, Tuan been the one who took care of me. Even though he go accepted to Alberta University..."
----
Flashback :
Chris clinging onto Tuan crying.
"I will raise Chris myself." Tuan said hugging Chris more tightly. "I'll do my utmost to support him!"
"It was because of me that he gave up on school and started working."
----
"So if I'm going to go an economics department anyway, I want it to be Alberta University, the school my brother wanted to go to." Chris paused. "My motives might not be the best, but...." Chris stopped.
Edi rose up from the couch. He went over to Chris and started patting his head. "If that's how it is, I'll definitely get you in. You can't possibly fail with me as your teacher. Okay?" Edi spoke.
Chris blushed. "Ye-Yeah!"
I'm not totally sure I can trust a guy who did
that to me, but... Anyway, I've taken my first step towards Alberta University!
------
Later in the month...
-----
"How do you like that?!" Chris said with a proud tone.
"Wow, C's, good job!" Edi exclaimed.
"Well, you know. When I bother to try, it's a piece of cake!" Chris said laughing.
"Don't get too carried away now." Edi said with a smile.
"Carried away with what? I'm just this good!" Chris said cockily."
....or so I said, but actually EdiTeddy is way better at teaching than my teachers at school. I started calling him EdiTeddy too somewhere along the way.... it kind of pisses me off.
"Tuan will be thrilled, I'm sure. I want to get you pass and see him smile!" Edi said, he seated on the couch next to Draggy-san.
"Do you really love him that much?" Chris asked.
"What's this all of the sudden?" Edi replied.
"I'm asking if you love him." Chris said again.
"You have nothing to worry about. It's completely one-sided." Edi said. "That book you read is just my fantasy." He said reassuring.
"But, you know, he's got a girlfriend already." Chris said bluntly.
"Yeah, I know." Chris turned his chair around. "Being able to stay beside the one you love is one of the privileges of being a friend." Edi said with a smile.
"If you really love him, you should just shove his girlfriend out of the picture and make yourself his number one." Chris replied.
"Hahaha, you really are young. He means the most to me. That's why I don't want him to hate me." Edi said back. He picked up Draggy-san and began petting him.
Recently, I've begun to realize... EdiTeddy never does anything that Tuan wouldn't like. He treats him gently, preciously, as if he were a jewel. But my brother sees him as nothing more than a good friend. Even so, he's earnest, and blindly devoted....
"What an idiot..." Chris muttered.
It's only going hurt that way...
------
Later on in the month....
-----
"Woah!" Chris exclaimed. "A-Awesome! Such a dramatic increase in so short time! Maybe I am really a genius! Yeah, I'm like a sleeping lion that's been awakened!" He shouted.
Now I really might have a shot at Alberta University! I've gotta go tell EdiTeddy!
Chris began running in the sunset...
I want to see him! He'll praise me for sure, I know it!
Eh.
Wait a second. What did I just say?
"I've gotta go tell EdiTeddy?"
"I want to see him?"
What's up with this cheerful dash into the sunset? Tuan is who I should be telling first! No! No, it's not true! I.... I do
not like men!
"What are you doing?"
"O-Oh, EdiTeddy! Th-Thy doth verily appearest in most excellent spirits!" Chris said panicking.
"Sounds like you need to study your ancient literature from scratch." Edi said. "Well, anyway, it's good that we ran into each other. Let's go home together." He held up a plastic bag. "I bought cake."
"Eh?" Chris said.
"Today's Tuan's Birthday!" Edi simply remarked.
"Oh!" Chris gasped.
"Looks like you'd forgotten." Edi said with a smirk.
"Of-Of course I didn't forget!" Chris said lying. "I got this today." Chris held up the report card. Edi took it into his hands. He raised his hands and started petting Chris again.
"Hahaha." Edi smiled. Chris blushed.
"What are you doing?!" Chris exclaimed.
"Good job!" Edi raised his hand out for a high five.
Why is my heart pounding? EdiTeddy is only praising me because Tuan will be happy...
-------
At Tuan/Chris's household.
-------
"I'm home -- Wah!" Tuan said suprised. Chris and Edi both pulled the party flares.
"Happy birthyday, Tuan!" Edi exclaimed.
"Happy Birthday!" Chris said clapping his hands.
"Wow, what a feast! Thank you!" Looking at the dining table.
"Here, this is from me." Edi gave a small black box to Tuan with golden ribbons. "You wanted that watch we saw together before, didn't you?" Edi asked.
"Eh? But that was really expensive!" Tuan said.
"One luxury item per year won't kill you." Edi said jokingly.
"Wow, thank you so much, Edi!" Tuan said again.
"Brother, you forgot to lock the door!" Chris said. Walking out the room, he saw another pair of legs.
"Oh sorry." Tuan replied. "Ah, that's right. I have something very important to tell you." Tuan saying remembering. "I'm glad you're here, too, Edi." Tuan dragging out Edi with him clinging onto the poor adult. "Come on, let go already!" Tuan laughed.
He walked towards the young woman.
"This is Hayley." He said.
She waved her hand.
"We've decided to get married." He said bluntly.
Edi's and Chris's eyes shot up.
"That's great! You finally did it, Tuan!" Edi said lying, covering up his real emotions. He walked towards Tuan. "And she's such a beautiful woman." He said patting his shoulder.
"Thanks. I'm really glad you're happy about it too." Tuan said with a smile. "I wanted you to be the first person I introduced her to!" He exclaimed.
Chris couldn't stand it anymore. WHAM. He slammed his fist onto the wall.
Tuan, Hayley, and Edi. Turned to him.
"Chris?" Tuan said.
"...some more." Chris muttered.
"Eh?" Tuan replied.
"The champagne's gone, I'll go buy some more!" Chris explained.
"They won't sell to a minor." Tuan said.
Rushing out the door Chris grabbed Edi's hand.
"EdiTeddy, come with me!" Chris said in a serious tone.
Chris started to breathe heavily. Tears started flowing down. "I'm sorry..." He said.
"Why are you apologizing?" Edi asked.
"That was just... too cruel!" Chris answered. "You'd been in love with him the whole time!" He said while wiping the tears off his face. "You always cared for him, and yet...!" He sobbed. "He wanted to introduce her to you first?!" He exclaimed. "He was so insensetive... This is the first time I've ever wanted to punch him!" Chris said rubbing his eyes.
"Heh, What a dirty way of crying." Edi said.
"I'm crying because of you!" Chris snapped. Once I start crying, I can't stop even if I want to!" He turned towards Edi.
"I see." Edi grabbed Chris's hand and launched a kiss. The kiss was intense, tears flowed from Chris's eyes, while Edi stepped in a little bit more holding Chris's face, ever so gently. Chris's body turned into jelly
"You stopped crying." Edi said.
Chris being dazed only looked up with his cheeks blushed with the brightest shade of red. Edi grabbed onto Chris and hugged him tightly.
"Sorry. Just for a little while..." Chris hugged back Edi.
"E-EdiTeddy.... You can cry if you want to..." Chris suggested.
"Idiot. Little brats like you shouldn't be patronizing their elders." Edi said.
Snow started to fall... First snowing day in winter.....
"I'll tell you something, I've never cried in front of anybody since I was born, except you. As if I'd let anyone but you see me like this..." Edi said remaining composed.
Chris reached for Edi's head, and started patting it. Tears flowed from his eyes.
I felt those warm drops on my shoulder, and shapeless emotions came welling inside of me.
"If only I could stay together with him forever."
"If only I could become someone special to him."
Thoughts like that went through my head, and I stood there, unable to take my hands away and let him go.
------
Spring, Cherry blossom season.
------
Chris spiking up his hair with a hair comb.
"Yes, perfect!" He said.
Edi came in and starts ruffling through his hair.
"Hey!" Chris shouted.
"You got accepted on the waitlist; save your preening for when you deserve it." Edi said.
"Shut up! I still got in, that's all that matters!" Chris snapped back.
"That's true. Even if you waitlisted, once you officially enroll no one will ever no you were waitlistened." Edi said agreeing. "If a waitisted student can properly graduate, then even a waitlisted..."
"Quit saying waitlist waitlist!" Chris said flailing his arms around.
Jeez... It just so happened that, on they day our apartment's contract was up, my brother got suddenly transferred to Vancouver. I'm temporarily going to be living as a sponger in Edi's house.
Trying to put the tie on Chris got confused.
"Huh?"
"Hey, hey. How the hell did you tie this?" Edi asked.
Edi grabbed both of Chris's hands and started controlling them.
"I'll do it for you, so watch closely." Edi said.
"Okay." Chris responded.
Edi looked at Chris's shirt. He pointed at a button.
"Your buttons are one off. You're utterly hopeless. Come on, take it all off." Edi said while undoing Chris's shirt.
Trying to escape Chris tried to get out of Edi's grip. "I'll do it myself! I just hadn't been paying attention!" Chris exclaimed. "Besides, if I don't hurry I'll be late to the entrance ceremony..."
"Not to worry. It's only 5 minutes to the university in my red sportscar." Edi smirked.
Edi threw Chris onto the couch with Chris sitting on Edi's lap.
"Wa-Wait a second!" Chris shouted. "Are you half-asleep again?" Chris asked.
Edi kissed Chris on the cheek. Chris tried to hide himself blushing.
"Consider this an honor. You don't understand yet exactly what it means to have Edi Vanconcelous to fall for you." He whispered in Chris's ear.
"I don't even want to understand!" Chris snapped at Edi.
"Ah someone help!"
"Wha-What are you doing?! Cut it out! Hey!"
The moment I felt compassion for this pure-hearted romanticist, my fate was sealed.
Tuan, I think I might have moved into a very dangerous place...
"Stupid EdiTeddy!"
-----
End of Chapter 1.
----
Blooper fun~!
-----
"Hey... why did you name your bear Draggy-san." Chris asked.
"I had some other candidates in mind -- Merly, Plumie, Tuna, Mayune.... But in the end Draggy sounded more cute, meaning more popular and normal." Edi explained.
"That's exactly what I'd been longing for, so I choose the name with great respect."
"I see...." Chris said.
"To complete how cute Draggy is, I've accumulated this many Teddy Bears." Edi said, pointing to the back wall.
Chris turned his head. "Wow." He exclaimed. There were rows of endless Teddy Bears..... Too many to count.
"But uh, I think Draggy is a horrible name.." Chris said bluntly.
Edi face froze.
